What an INCI list is — and why order matters
An INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) list is the standardized ingredient declaration that appears on cosmetic packaging. Ingredients are listed in descending order of concentration down to one percent, after which the remaining ingredients may be listed in any order. Getting that order — and the standardized names — right by hand is tedious and error-prone, especially as a formula changes.
